I hate my computer. It is the bane of my existence. It is the most unreliable piece of hardware that I own. Then why is it, that I depend on it so much? That I feel as though I can't live without it?

Yesterday, for no reason at all, my computer suddenly started asking for a password before it would let me log onto Windows. This would be fine and dandy, except that I HAVE NO PASSWORD. I have never set one. And because I have no password, nothing that I typed worked and after like 5 attempts, my computer would just freeze and I had no choice but to manually turn it off. This led to 2 attempts at repairing Windows using the HP operating system CD that came with my computer (which I found out has a missing/corrupted file. Thank you HP, for selling me a defective computer AND a defective operating system disk) and 1 attempt at completely reinstalling Windows. I love spending my free time trying to make my computer work.

On a happier note, my parents arrive on Saturday and for two weeks, we will be travelling around the UK and going to Paris. In the meantime, will try to be as productive as possible...

Yesterday, I went to my very first football game in England. I went with JP to see his home team, Coventry (in sky blue), play Crewe (in red). We had really good seats: first row, center. As soon as the game started, the ball came careening over the small 2-foot-tall barrier in front of us and JP got to touch the ball as he tried to kick it back to the players from his seat. It was an interesting experience, as I got to participate in something that I think of as being super-duper British. I also got to eat a (mystery) meat pie (a tradition not unlike getting a hot dog at a baseball game) which tasted mostly good. Unfortunately, the initial excitement gave way to disappointment, as Conventry went on to play a crappy game and lost to lower-ranked Crewe, 1-4. Oh well, better luck next time.

I have only one week left in my rotation.
I still have to finish 90% of my write-up.
I have data from 7 real-time PCR plates to analyze.
I still have lots of last minute experiments to do in lab.
My parents will come to the UK in 9 days to stay for two weeks.

And what am I doing in the meantime? Procrastinating of course.

As the semester progresses, work load inevitably increases. Interestingly, motivation appears to have an inverse relationship with work load. Coupled with the tendency for procrastinative inclination to rise (procrastination is directly correlated with work load, and while correlation does not always indicate causation, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that in this case, it does) this spells disaster for me. I NEED to do some work, but for some reason, all I want to do is make stupid graphs in Excel and update my blog.

IT'S SNOWING!!

The weather has been weird for the last couple of weeks. Snow one minute, then sleet, hail, rain, and back to snow. And most of last week, it was humid and warmish. I don't understand.

This has been the poo of all weeks. Lotsa work-related gossip/drama, people complaining/whining about how difficult this program is blah blah, and I had a nice little tutorial write-up to turn in today that of course I put off until yesterday so now I'm running on very little sleep. Once I get some good-old fashioned shut-eye (I know I'm lame, staying in on a Friday evening!), I'll do a real post. So until then, humor my silly, lame-o, internet-quiz-type thing obsession by clicking here. Thanks!
