Drumroll please.....

THE LONG OVER-DUE RETURN TO BLOGGER

It's been exactly a month since my last post and for that, I have to apologize. Please keep in mind that I've only resisted blogging because I really really had no time to do it, and I didn't feel like doing one of those "I'll write a real entry later" entries. As a peace offering, I give you:

APRIL 2006: THE UBER ENTRY
or
WHAT HAPPENED TO GRACE DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL AND WHY DIDN'T SHE MAKE ANY POSTS?!

"Four stars!!"
"Two thumbs up!"
"A stunning masterpiece of epic proportions"
"Eh, it was OK..."

April 1
My parents arrive in Manchester. We eat Indian curry for dinner since they've never had it before. It is love at first bite.

April 2 - 4
We make our way to Edinburgh, Scotland. Such a beautiful city. I was thoroughly impressed.

April 5 - 8
We stay in London and spend about 10 years wandering around looking for our hotel. It was worth it in the end, though. Very nice. As to be expected since my parents used up two years' worth of time share points to stay there four nights. London is the world's most expensive city, apparently, and it shows!

Tower Bridge. This is the one Arizona thought they were buying when they bought "London Bridge" off of the British. If you've ever been to Lake Havasu, you'll see what they got instead.

St. James' Park near Buckingham Palace. We just caught all of the flowers in bloom.

April 7
Happy third birthday to my blog!

April 9
Amsterdam, Netherlands. We didn't stay here very long. Just enough to have a little cruise tour of the canals.

April 10
Brussels, Belgium. Again, just passing though and spending the night here. We took a bus tour this time. The Belgians built this odd structure for the World Fair back in 1960-something (??). I have a feeling it's not gonna become the defining national symbol as the Eiffel Tower did.

April 11 - 14
Paris and Mont St. Michel. Paris was almost exactly as how I remebered it when I went there back in April of 1999. The crepes tasted exactly the same. I have lots of gratuitous touristy photos for you.

My parents outside of the Louvre. Or as some Americans like to pronounce it, "LOVER." God bless America!

Napoleon's Arc de Triomphe.

Gotta have a shot of this. The Eiffel Tower at night.

The Mont St. Michel. I also came here back in '99. Still looks amazing, though.

April 15
Return to the UK via the Chunnel. We had curry in Manchester again, to commemorate my parents' last day.

April 16
Mom and Dad hop on a plane headed towards the good ol' US of A. Oh, and HAPPY EASTER!

April 17
I went shopping and found this:

It's Bluff Dust by Benefit. It's like Visine for the Asian face! It gets the red out! Perfect for those nights out when I don't want to deal with the Asian glow. AND, being a loose powder, has the added effect of reducing shininess. WAHOO!

April 19 - 21
Ireland with Anjali. We forfitted going to somewhere hot and tropical so that we could save some cash by going to Ireland instead. The most random trip I've ever been on. There was lots of countryside, sheep, and entire hick families riding around on tractors in the middle of the road. Everyone knew everyone else in the little town of Shannon.

Where are all the sheep, Anjali?

The city (town?) of Limerick. The guy who wrote Angela's Ashes grew up here. Because of the book, I expected it to be a rustic and cute little town. Hardly the case. Since he wrote the book, I guess Limerick has just become an average suburban town. No more starving little Irish kids running around in fear that their Catholic God might strike them down if they didn't go to church.

The Cliffs of Moher. These were stunning. Made the trip definitely worthwhile. And look, the weather was fantastic, too!

April 22 - today
Frantically tried to finish my 2nd lab rotation write-up. I didn't think I would make it, but...

TA-DA!!! And turned in with a whole 6 and a half hours to spare. I am now a free woman again!
